This is the AXA PPP healthcare story
2002
PPP healthcare is renamed AXA PPP healthcare, to reflect our membership
of the Global AXA Group.
1999
On 10 May 1999 Sun Life and Provincial Holdings (SLPH), the UK subsidiary
of the Global AXA Group, one of the world's leading insurance and asset
management companies, acquired Guardian Royal Exchange, the parent company
of PPP healthcare.
1998
Guardian Royal Exchange Group acquired PPP healthcare from the PPP healthcare
foundation limited with the proceeds of the sale (some £540m) going
to the PPP healthcare medical trust.
1997
We began to introduce a network of recommended hospitals chosen for their
quality, value and range of services. Building closer, long term links
with these carefully selected hospitals benefits customers, the hospitals
and us alike.
1996
We founded Access 24, a telephone based company providing expert professional
health information services and counselling services for our employee
assistance programme, Employee Support.
We established preferred provider links with NHS cancer centres to provide
customers with high quality cancer care services. We set up a joint venture
with the American healthcare company Columbia/HCA Healthcare, to own and
operate four of London's best known private hospitals. The Wellington
Hospital, the Princess Grace Hospital, the Portland Hospital for Women
and Children and the Harley Street Clinic.
1995
We introduced a new look brand with the slogan "there to support
you" emphasising our focus on customers' healthcare needs and our
intention to offer people a comprehensive range of services designed to
provide them with personal healthcare for life.
1993
Denplan, the UK's largest private dental care service, with its unique
focus on preventative dental care, is acquired.
