| EAP Impartiality
All EAP services are independent and impartial. The teams support employees
and their families, both emotionally, and by providing practical information,
but will not represent them. If representation is indicated then they
will work with the individual to establish their criteria for selecting
the appropriate resources in each particular instance. The EAP may then
assist in the search, make links, and review progress - but will not recommend
or advise.
Equally, they provide information rather than advice in response to a
query. Although advice might occasionally be appropriate, the counselling
philosophy encourages people to make their own choices and decisions and
to use their own resources wherever possible. The counsellors and consultants
are experienced in helping individuals to establish their options and
in supporting their subsequent thinking and action. They will refrain
from determining choices or decisions for the caller.
